Nearly one year since its release, The Kings’ single “A Rose for Your Stone” continues to resonate with AAA/Americana radio. The western-inspired track, part of the band’s ongoing project The Longest Story Ever Told, has been championed on regional and international radio stations and continues to build momentum.
A Timeless Story, a Western Twist
“A Rose for Your Stone” tells the tale of a gunfighter returning home upon learning of a former girlfriend’s passing. Having once pursued fame with his gun, he finds himself at her graveside, placing a single rose in tribute to a love left behind. Mixed by Michael Vail Blum (Madonna, Prince), the single has drawn praise from podcasts, blogs, and music publications alike.
- Michaels Record Collection applauds its nod to old country story-songs like Marty Robbins’ “El Paso.”
- Americana Highways spotlights the song’s Spanish-flavored horns and hails lead singer David Diamond’s still-powerful voice—dating back to his performance on “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide.”
- Rave and Roll highlights the “spaghetti western atmospherics,” embellished by an accordion and lively mariachi horns.

Ongoing Legacy
Over the years, The Kings have released Amazon Beach, RSVP, Unstoppable, Party Live in ’85, The Lost Tapes of a Seventies Bar Band, and Because of You, alongside the documentary Anatomy of a One-Hit Wonder and the concert film Live at Heatwave.
