“It’s Always You” showcases STRANGE LOT’s signature droning psychedelic sound, enriched with swirling shoegaze guitars, heavy garage percussion, and atmospheric reverb that echoes the dreamlike intensity of its lyrics. Fans of Thee Oh Sees, Dungen, and The Horrors will find themselves at home under this hazy sonic rainbow.
The music video, directed by Stellina Stampouli, elevates the track’s ethereal vibe with polychromatic visuals crafted by Tachyons+, whose renowned work includes live visuals for Tame Impala and glitch effects for the latest Alien film. Today’s release is a glimpse into STRANGE LOT’s highly anticipated debut album, which features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including production by The Black Angels’ Alex Maas, mixing by Spoon’s Jim Eno, and mastering by GRAMMY-winner Howie Weinberg (Smashing Pumpkins, Prince, Nirvana). STRANGE LOT’s journey began as the bedroom project of singer/guitarist Dominic Mena in Phoenix, AZ. Since relocating to Austin in 2019, the band has solidified its lineup with Tim Lormor, bassist Nate Hahn, and Jordan Fitzpatrick on synthesizer and guitar. Together, they’ve earned their place among the psych-rock elite, sharing stages with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus and Mary Chain, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Kikagaku Moyo.
