New York City’s rising rock & roll force, The Thing, is set to electrify the Fox Theatre on Friday, November 29, 2024. The four-piece band, composed of Michael Carter, Jack Bradley, Zane Acord, and Lucas Ebeling, has rapidly gained attention for their gritty sound and relentless touring schedule, delivering over 200 shows across North America since their formation.
The Thing originated in high school, where Michael, Jack, and Zane bonded over a shared love for classic 60’s rock & roll, drawing inspiration from pioneers like The Kinks, Grand Funk Railroad, and the artists featured in the Nuggets Compilation. As their musical journey progressed, the band expanded their vision, taking cues from modern rock heavyweights like Brian Jonestown Massacre, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and The Black Keys.
After making waves across New York City in the winter of 2022, the band solidified their lineup with the addition of drummer Lucas Ebeling, a veteran of the New York jazz scene. With their lineup complete, The Thing hit the road, performing sold-out shows in cities across the U.S., including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Chicago. They’ve also graced the stages of major festivals like Governors Ball, Boston Calling, Hopscotch Festival, and Summerfest.
Their debut LP, ‘Here’s the Thing’, was self-produced in the band’s DIY fashion, recorded at Zane’s childhood home in Sharon, CT, and their Brooklyn studio. Not long after its release, the band returned to the studio to record their second album, ‘The Thing Is’, which captures their experimental edge with a live-in-the-room recording approach. Their ethos of self-reliance and musical exploration continues to push their sound to new heights.
Now, with a European tour on the horizon for Fall 2024, The Thing shows no signs of slowing down. Be prepared for an unforgettable night of high-energy rock and roll when they hit the Fox Theatre stage in Boulder, Colorado.
