The Boulder Theater is proud to announce a special performance by Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Doors will open at 7:00 pm, with the show beginning at 8:00 pm. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 14 at 10:00 am and can be purchased here. Both General Admission Standing Room and Reserved Seated tickets will be available. This is an all-ages event (guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).

The Wooten Brothers’ musical journey began in 1966 with their first public performance in Hawaii. Born just a few years apart, Regi, Roy, Rudy, Joseph, and Victor Wooten quickly earned reputations as prodigies, astonishing audiences with their innate virtuosity. By the time Victor, the youngest, was only five, the family band had already begun opening shows for R&B legends such as War. Just two years later, they were sharing the stage with Curtis Mayfield. Over the decades, they have cultivated a devoted following and garnered critical acclaim, collecting 10 Grammy wins and 26 nominations between them.

Each Wooten brother has made an indelible mark on the music world. Regi, often called “The Teacha,” has spent a lifetime imparting his knowledge to eager students who travel from across the globe to study guitar, bass, keyboards, and more under his guidance. Roy, also known as “Future Man,” invented the Drumitar—a groundbreaking instrument that reimagines the role of drums in modern music—and the RoyEl, a piano-shaped invention exploring rhythmic and tonal structures derived from the golden ratio. The late Rudy Wooten, who passed away in 2010, left behind a formidable legacy as a saxophonist, noted for his ability to play double saxophone parts inspired by greats like Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Charlie Parker. Joseph Wooten, dubbed “The Hands of Soul,” has lent his keyboard and vocal talents to the Steve Miller Band since 1993, contributing to the group’s worldwide success and over 60 million records sold.

Victor Wooten, recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the “Ten Greatest Bass Players of All Time,” is celebrated for his innovative approach to the instrument and his boundary-pushing artistry. Together with Roy, Victor has collected a number of the Wooten Grammy nominations while collaborating with the likes of banjo master Béla Fleck, pianist and harmonica virtuoso Howard Levy, and saxophonist Jeff Coffin.

Throughout their careers, the Wootens have explored and reshaped countless musical genres—R&B, jazz, funk, classical, country, and rock. Their 1985 release on Arista Records, “The Wootens,” was a preview of the group’s versatile nature, blending electronic, funk, soul, disco, and boogie. Although each brother frequently ventures out on his own path, they periodically reunite to share the unmatched synergy of the family band. Their live shows exude a powerful energy that reflects the depth of their collective experience and the spirit they carry from their earliest performances.

Beyond touring, the Wootens continue to innovate. Victor established the “Wooten Woods” camp, where musicians from around the world engage with nature and refine their craft. Roy, through his compositions for the Evolution d’Amour ballet and the Black Mozart Symphony, keeps the spotlight on underrepresented composers, including the 18th-century virtuoso Joseph Boulogne de Saint-Georges. Meanwhile, Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville stands as a testament to the late Rudy Wooten’s influence, drawing a devoted following and contributing to the city’s vibrant jazz scene.

Now, the Wooten Brothers are planning the next phase of their journey. They are recording new music and have uncovered deep vault tracks that feature the late Rudy Wooten, promising fans both a nostalgic nod to their historic roots and a fresh outlook on where the Wootens are headed.

Don’t miss this chance to see one of music’s most celebrated family bands live. Join Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers at the Boulder Theater on May 3 for a night of extraordinary musicianship, joyful collaboration, and genre-defying artistry.
