When guitarist Jay Geils passed away last week at age 71, he left behind a legacy of wonderful music, not only for the blues-rock sounds he created within his namesake. J. Geils Band, but also on several albums he recorded for Stony Plain Records that explored the music of his formative years – jazz and swing – instilled in him by his father.

Eddie Vedder will co-headline the Bourbon and Beyond Festival this fall.  The festival takes place in Louisville, Kentucky on September 23rd and 24th. Eddie Vedder's performance date is TBD.

Phil Lesh is in his 16th year of playing with a rotating mix of Friends, both old and new. Phil began playing under the moniker Phil Lesh and Friends in 1998, after he'd returned to performing following the death of his friend and bandmate Jerry Garcia in 1995. With a varied mixture of some of the best performing musicians in the live music universe, Phil has kept his musical journey fresh by constantly and consistently putting together bands featuring dynamic, exciting musicians and singers working together toward keeping the music of the Grateful Dead moving forward into the future.

Real Gone Music is hitting the road this Summer with a release schedule that’s definitely in full bloom! Having released all 36 volumes of the Grateful Dead’s groundbreaking Dick’s Picks live concert series, the label is now taking the Dead’s Road Trips series to music retail for the first time EVER (and just like they did with Dick’s Picks, the label is starting with the last volume in the series).

The 8th Annual New York City Independent Film Festival (NYCIndieFF) is just around the corner, set to take place May 1-7, 2017, in the heart of bustling New York City. WinterWonderGrass, in its third Lake Tahoe-area incarnation, this time with a feet-thick blanket of snow all around, brought a distinctive assemblage of mountaintop adventure-seekers to Northern California for a symphonic unification of jam-happy roots and bluegrass music, fine craft brews, and mountain views/activities. The setting for the utopian weekend, March 31 to April 2, was once again the pastoral Squaw Valley, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Feelin' fine with the Felt Forum! Dave's Picks Volume 22 presents the last stop on a collector's choice run in the Grateful Dead's home-away-from-home, New York City. 12/7/71 yields a highly pleasurable Pigpen-filled show and what was surely a top-notch Tuesday for all who attended. Talk about vibe-ing with the crowd!
