The Ries Brothers release “Troubadour,” a stand-out preview of their upcoming LP ‘Paint Your Emotion,’ out September 18 on CSSL/Megaforce Records.

“Troubadour” joins a list of classic, bittersweet odes to life on the road made famous by Creedence Clearwater Revival (“Travelin’ Band”), Bob Seger (“Turn the Page”), Journey (“Faithfully”), Jackson Browne (“The Load-Out”), and other staples of American rock ‘n’ roll - and it was written by two brothers in their teens and early 20s from south Florida.

Earlier this summer, 90s indie cult favorite Billy Pilgrim announced some exciting news. Though the duo, composed of Andrew Hyra and Kristian Bush (Sugarland, Dark Water), thought their final recordings had been lost in a studio fire two decades ago, Bush found a remaining copy at his home during quarantine.

More from their Live From Out There set is here. Nine-piece ensemble Turkuaz followed up their previous Beatles cover of "Rain" with the warmth and comfort of the sun with an uplifting cover of the 1969 classic, "Here Comes The Sun."

Twisted Pine—once a straightforward, Boston-based bluegrass act—has been hard at work, busily evolving into what the Boston Globe now calls “something else, a wider version of a string band; boundary jumpers akin to outfits like Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, and Crooked Still.” Their influences certainly don’t stop there—Twisted Pine’s collective instrumental and songwriting skills should also be listed in the same echelon of contemporaries like Vulfpeck or Hiatus Kaiyote or Lake Street Dive.
