About five years ago, Robert Hunter, sweet be his memory, sent his old friend David Nelson a stack of lyrics.  David’s written music for several of them, some of which were on the David Nelson Band release Once In A Blue Moon.

The DNB finished another song, “Movin’ Right Along,” but for whatever reason—perhaps because it seemed so very intense—it sat and waited.  And on September 23rd, Robert himself moved along to wherever we’re all going, and it seemed appropriate to share it with you.

“This is for you, Dad.” Devon Allman said this around 8:30 PM last Saturday night, with his face and first finger pointed up toward the sky. It’s hard to imagine what he, as well as the other two Allman Brothers relatives in The Allman Betts Band, must have felt like getting to perform to a packed crowd in the historic and legendary hall that his dad’s original band championed so many countless times over.

Once you visit, you too will experience the magic of Bean Blossom. Come experience the history, become a part of tradition and find out why so many call this the Mecca of Bluegrass Music.

The veteran rockers delivered a two-set show of blues, traditional and psychedelic music.

Theo Katzman reminds me of that kid in my junior high art class that was so charming, interesting and easy to talk to.  His music is crazy catchy. His voice is out of this world. He is like the Robin Williams of musical ingénue with vocal characters and complimentary insightful lyrics.  When not touring with Vulfpeck, he is doing his own solo material including his latest EP, Modern Johnny Tackles The Issues.
