In little more than one month, the grasslands of northeastern Kansas will be filled with the sounds of electric music and fun-loving party goers. While organizers put the finishing touches on the 2007 Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival, set for June 7-10 at Clinton State Park in Lawrence, Kan., music lovers from across the country are planning their trips to the Midwest.

Culling some of the nation's best independent & up-and-coming artists, 10,000 Lakes Festival's Cosmic Break is ready to launch its online component.  After the wealth of talent unearthed from this year's ten city Cosmic Break Tour, thirty bands from all over America are now entered. MONOLITH and AEG Live Rocky Mountains have partnered to co-produce the inaugural MONOLITH Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on September 14 and 15, 2007. 

MONOLITH will host over 70 "emerging artists" – from international headliners to unknowns - making this the first music festival of its kind for Colorado, and the only annual "destination" event for music's legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The fifth annual 10,000 Lakes Festival (10KLF) held July 18 – 21 at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minn. is quickly becoming the summer's must attend live music and camping event.  Adding artists to its growing lineup, 10KLF announces the confirmation of these groups:

"Grateful Garcia Gathering" will be returning back to the natural surroundings of "Camp NCN" on August 2nd through the 5th 2007, in beautiful Black River Falls Wisconsin. This annual mellow gathering will be our 7th in a celebration of Jerry Garcia's 65th Birthday, plus the 12th Anniversary of Jerry's untimely passing. This is going to be a very deeply humble and special time for camping and gathering with friends of old and new!

It's interesting that when you ask anyone from south Florida what the local music scene is like, most locals will reply 'What music scene?". Now don't get me wrong, there is a music scene that really caters to the jazz, Latin and blues world but nothing alternative or rock that really stood out and connected south Florida to the rest of the world since the days of the Hollywood Sportatorium that is until now Langerado.

Unity, a seven member reggae band, set the lovin' vibe on opening night at last year's 10,000 Lakes Festival. Touring throughout Wisconsin, they rarely make it west so it was a rare treat to hear this band.

With warmer temperatures, jamfans are already looking toward summer festivals. To tempt you further, we're going to take a look back at last year's 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota, the new kid on the festival circuit that is drawing fans to its musical honey and its truly sweet location. We'll show you a bit of what each day was like with a profile of a couple of bands that played there last year. A final installment will give you a glimpse into what to expect this summer.
