For the first time at the annual Coors Light Carb Day concert, three bands will deliver an afternoon of great music at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Popular rock groups Jane’s Addiction, O.A.R. and 38 Special will perform at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, on the Turn 4 Coors Light stage in the IMS infield.

The thrilling concert is free with Coors Light Carb Day admission of $30; fans wanting the closest access to the stage in the Coors Light Concert Pit can purchase a $10 upgrade.

New and upgraded experiences abound for fans this year, from the trio of musical acts to various viewing perspectives. The Coors Light Concert Pit is available for those wanting to be closest to the bands, while the exclusive Carb Day Party Deck (starting at $100) offers a VIP experience including an elevator for easy access to an upper-level, partially shaded view of the concert stage, exclusive concessions and permanent private restrooms. “The combination of these three bands will provide the perfect musical entertainment for everyone anxious to kickoff their Indianapolis 500 race weekend activities,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “Coors Light Carb Day has become a huge fan favorite during the Month of May providing something for everyone, and we look forward to seeing another enthusiastic crowd this year.”

Jane’s Addiction, known as the Godfathers of Alternative Rock, headline the concert. The Grammy- and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-nominated group is comprised of founding members Perry Farrell (vocals), Dave Navarro (guitar) and Stephen Perkins (drums), along with longstanding bassist Chris Chaney.

Jane’s Addiction burst on the music scene in the summer of 1988 with the release of their first studio album “Nothing’s Shocking.” The groundbreaking debut album featured the classic hit “Jane Says” along with other Jane's favorites such as “Idiot’s Rule,” “Had A Dad,” “Ted Just Admit It,” and “Summertime Rolls.” Songs that demonstrated the band’s affinity for exploring a wide variety of musical genres that have included heavy metal, punk rock, British indie, industrial, faux lounge jazz, rap and progressive rock.

Jane’s Addiction passed into legend early and by design. They broke up after six years together in 1991 at the height of their popularity, but not before headlining the inaugural Lollapalooza, which has become an annual music festival tour featuring alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop bands.

Since reuniting, Jane’s Addiction has remained a frighteningly powerful live band that endures as an ever-exploring recording act that keeps rock and roll unpredictable, inspiring, dangerous and constantly moving forward.

O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) is renowned for its intense, vibrant live show – including selling out Madison Square Garden in New York City twice – and the communal feeling it shares with its fans. With each studio album, the band has endeavored to achieve that sense of immediacy.

The band, known for hit singles “Shattered” “Heaven” and “Love and Memories,” released its eighth studio album, “The Rockville LP,” in 2014 featuring the lead single “Peace” written by lead singer Marc Roberge, who founded O.A.R. in 1996 with his Rockville, Maryland, high school classmates: drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On and bassist Benj Gershman. Roberge wrote “Peace” with Blair Daly and Nashville-based producer Nathan Chapman, best known for his work with Taylor Swift.

Proceeds generated from O.A.R.’s 25-city tour last summer with “American Idol” Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips were donated to Habitat for Humanity.

38 Special originated in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1974, when buddies Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant decided to form a band. They have released 15 albums in a 40-year career, touring relentlessly since the ’70s, sharing their blend of Southern Blues Rock with fans around the world.

After more than three decades together, 38 Special continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to more than 100 cities a year. 38 Special’s numerous Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate 38 Special with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – all timeless and immediately recognizable hits that remain radio staples paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Coors Light Carb Day will conclude with the Jane’s Addiction, O.A.R. and 38 Special show capping a fun and exciting day at IMS. Also scheduled are the final practice for the 33 starters in the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, the Indy Lights Freedom 100 race and the popular Tag Heuer Pit Stop Challenge.

The 2015 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for noon (ET) Sunday, May 24. ***
