The South just got a little funkier this fall with the announcement of the May The Phunk Be With You September tour featuring Earphunk and friends. Bookended by festivals in Oklahoma, the tour weaves Earphunk throughout the Southeast for select dates with The Main Squeeze, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Modern Measure. The tour will make stops in Oxford, Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham, Baton Rouge, and the Carolinas, plus Athens where Earphunk will be joined by both Karl D and Modern Measure.
With the recent release of Sweet Nasty, Earphunk secured their place among chamberlains of the modern-funk movement. Relix Magazine confirms that on Sweet Nasty Earphunk were able to “[polish] their future funk sound, but still [capture] the rip-roaring grooves and spontaneous guitar freakouts that make their live show such a treat.”
