Fantastic Negrito's single "Rolling Through California'', featuring Miko Marks is one of the most timely tracks of 2021. Centered around the ubiquity and tragedy of the California wildfires - specifically the 2021 Dixie Fire, the largest single wildfire in the state's history burning over 960K acres of land - "Rolling Through California" is a rallying cry addressing a myriad of issues, including water management, accelerating climate change and forced displacement. "Rolling Through California" garnered praise from The New York Times, Guitar World, American Songwriter, The San Francisco Chronicle, WNYC, KQED, Loudwire, Under the Radar Mag, and more!
The accompanying music video is truly a powerful statement as well. Set on a ranch, the video follows a dejected and exhausted young Black firefighter seeking refuge who eventually finds home with another historically marginalized and overlooked group, the Black Cowboys of America.
Fantastic Negrito has a truly enthralling story rooted in struggle and strife: from the highs of a million-dollar record deal to the lows of a near fatal car accident that left him in a coma and changed his entire outlook on life. Negrito broke onto the national radar by winning the NPR Tiny Desk. Since then, he has gone on to win the Best Contemporary Blues Album Grammy-Award for each of the three albums he has released: The Last Days of Oakland (2017), Please Don't Be Dead (2019), and Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? (2020), which includes features from fellow Tiny Desk winner Tank and the Bangas and Bay Area legend E-40.
