Wendy Burch Steel and Redwood play a unique cross-section of genres incorporating all the good and sweet aspects of bluegrass, folk, old-time, country bluegrass and blues. Bluegrass icon Laurie Lewis produced, played and sang on Wendy’s debut CD, Open Wings, which received rave reviews nationally and internationally in Americana and Bluegrass publications. Wendy is an award-winning songwriter and singer, known for her deft angelic voice and spiritually touching original material.

TIGER PARTY is a musical collective led by keyboardist Blake Mobley & vocalist Ashley Niven featuring a diverse group of musicians from across the county. Since its conception, Tiger Party has welcomed members of STS9, Lotus, The Disco Biscuits, JRAD, The Motet, Analog Son, along with a myriad of other artists from coast to coast. The Avett Brothers have been making their way across the nation on tour for their ninth studio album, True Sadness, and will soon be stopping at Sonoma State University to perform under the stars. The band will take the stage at the University’s Weill Hall + Lawn at the Green Music Center on Thursday September 15th at 7:30pm, as part of the Summer 2016 MasterCard Performance Series.

Some years back, former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay made a remarkable discovery in the storage of the family houseboat. Boxes of reels taped by legendary recording technician Betty Cantor-Jackson. The Grateful Dead tapes were the first to be dusted off, restored, and ultimately released for the enjoyment of all. Recently Donna Jean found yet another box consisting of all Jerry Garcia Band reels.
Reed Mathis has announced the release of Beathoven due September 30 on Royal Potato Family. The revered bassist extraordinaire is best known for his work with Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Tea Leaf Green and Billy & the Kids (led by the Grateful Dead’s Bill Kreutzmann) among numerous others, but his first love was always Ludwig van Beethoven.

Oh how we love our transformational festivals!
For so many of us they have guided and shaped chapters of our lives, inspiring us, exposing our souls to new truths, to incredible workshops, art, beloved friends, community and deeply moving music that stays with us throughout the year. They are called transformational festivals for a reason, because when you come to one you leave changed. And yet the transformational festival scene is also going through its own metamorphosis.
