Today, New Orleans funk icon George Porter Jr. and his band the Runnin' Pardners release Crying For Hope via Controlled Substance Sounds Labs and Color Red. Recorded remotely during quarantine, the 12-track album marks the funk-rock group's first full-length studio release in a decade and boasts a mix of unreleased Pardners tunes and new cuts inspired by the social justice movement.

Named in remembrance of the late Lon “Conscious” Gellman, Baked Shrimp uses the album to explore their growing sound and reimagine what’s possible for long island’s best-kept secret. Long confined by the limitations of a trio, the band welcomed Nick and Mark Rufolo (The Brothers Nylon) into the studio for the creation of Conscious.
