The concluding day of Bonnaroo 2023, Sunday, June 17th, kept the 85,000-strong crowd of festival-goers spellbound with a grand curtain call performance by The Foo Fighters. The simmering tension of a potential thunderstorm only heightened the anticipation, adding a dramatic edge to an otherwise electrifying day. But in an instance of atmospheric serendipity, the celestial downpour held off, allowing the final chords to echo across Centeroo before the heavens unleashed their symphony.
When he first catapulted onto the Athens, GA music scene as an undergrad in 2018, Elijah Johnston wasn’t sure what to make of his surroundings. A freshly-enrolled music student at the University of Georgia, the burgeoning songwriter sought camaraderie in fellow noise-makers, quickly becoming a staple sideman and collaborator to local groups such as Hotel Fiction and Well Kept. Now with five solo albums to his name, Johnston returns today with “Downtown Living” – a raucous anthem that underscores his complicated sentiment about life in the city.

The Roxy Theatre turns 50 this fall, and the iconic music club of the legendary Sunset Strip will celebrate with a full-slate of concerts, exhibits and events marking the milestone. In an LA Times online feature out today, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Roxy owner Lou Adler announced the return of Neil Young to The Roxy for a special performance taking place on September 20; fifty years to the day after he headlined the venue's opening night in 1973. The event will benefit The Painted Turtle and Bridge School.
