For many musicians in the Americana and bluegrass worlds, stories of how they found their way to the late, great John Hartford are quite similar: An eye-opening, life-changing musical moment sparked by the witty, vibrant tunes of the Grammy-winning, river and steamboat-obsessed, flatfoot dancing legend. Hartford discarded norms and let his experiences, influences, and sense of humor shine, all while playing multiple instruments on a virtuosic level.
The Devil Makes Three return with Spirits today via New West Records. The 13-song set was produced by Ted Hutt (Dropkick Murphys, Old Crow Medicine Show) and recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios in Hurley, NY. Spirits is the Devil Makes Three’s first album in 7 years and follows 2018’s Chains Are Broken.

Today, Candid Records and Chick Corea Productions released Trilogy 3, a new double live album. In 2020, National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master and jazz icon Chick Corea hit the road with his powerhouse trio of Christian McBride and Brian Blade, embarking on what would be Corea’s final tour. The recordings from those shows are now being released as Trilogy 3, the third installment from this extraordinary group.
