Old Settler’s Music Festival has just placed a limited number of early bird ticket packages on sale today for the festival’s 35th-anniversary gathering, Thursday through Sunday, April 21-24, 2022, at its permanent home in Tilmon, Texas, 12 miles southeast of Lockhart.
Four-day non-camping (including parking) and four-day platinum, gold and general-admission camping packages are now being offered at discounted rates for the annual roots music festival, which resumes its traditional springtime place after having to move 2021’s dates to the fall. Single-day wristbands and two-night camping packages will be offered in coming months. Planners will begin announcing performers soon for an anniversary celebration worthy of one of the longest-running festivals of its kind, which now features more than 30 award-winning roots, bluegrass and Americana artists performing on two large stages and two intimate campground stages. The festival’s talent caliber and laid-back, family-friendly vibe have earned Old Settler's a top-five spot on USA Today’s list of North America’s 10 best festivals.
A special teen rate also is available for younger music lovers attending with an adult (student ID required). Children 12 and under attending with an adult are admitted free. Old Settler’s Music Festival takes place in a professionally designed 145-acre space just 20 minutes from Lockhart and less than an hour from downtown Austin or San Antonio and two hours from Houston (program GPSs for 1616 FM 3158, Dale, Texas 78716). Amenities include onsite parking, play areas for children, a variety of food offerings and a fully electrified campground powered by renewable green energy, eliminating noisy generators.
The nonprofit festival’s annual Youth Talent Competition has awarded several college music scholarships and helped to launch a few careers — including that of Grammy winner Sarah Jarosz.
