About Adrift Dinosaur
We are first and foremost river women and men—an open-hearted tribe of adventurers, seekers, pilgrims, travelers, musicians, and stewards. Inspired by the explorers, pioneers, and protectors of rivers and canyons before us, we believe that we have the power to inspire a new generation of stewards, athletes, and adventurers who will carry forward a legacy of environmental activism and river stewardship.
Javier Placer and Scotty Stoughton founded Stand Up Paddle Colorado in 2010 to share their love of the sport with adventure seekers. Fellow water enthusiast Craig Yarde joined as a partner in 2015. In 2016, Javier and Scotty were among the first to paddle the entire Grand Canyon on the Colorado River, an experience that inspired them to create multi-day unplugged river expeditions. When the opportunity arose to acquire a permit for Dinosaur National Monument on the Green and Yampa Rivers, Javier, Scotty, and Craig seized it, and the rest is history.
Adrift Dinosaur (formerly Adrift Adventures) is the premier Utah rafting outfitter in Dinosaur National Monument. Adrift offers a nine-mile daily Green River whitewater rafting trip through Split Mountain Gorge, as well as multi-day rafting trips on the Green and Yampa Rivers. Choose our 5-day Yampa River rafting adventure that spans 72 miles of Class III-IV rapids, or our 4-day Green River trip covering 44 miles of Class III-IV rapids through the legendary Gates of Lodore. Both trips begin in Colorado and end in Utah at Split Mountain Canyon. We’ve developed incredible partnerships with musicians, athletes, influencers, and chefs who elevate our multi-day trips. We also offer specialty multi-day Stand Up Paddle Board trips, quickly becoming Utah’s top SUP tours.
Dinosaur National Monument is a breathtaking park with fewer crowds. Its rivers have wilderness designation, ensuring limited access that protects the environment and lets you truly escape. With Fremont, Ute, and other native peoples’ rock art, caves where outlaws like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once hid, dinosaur bones at the quarry, a geological tapestry rivaling the Grand Canyon, and world-class whitewater on two of the largest Colorado River tributaries—this may be one of the most extraordinary places in the continental USA. Join us for an intimate whitewater adventure of a lifetime, suitable for beginner and intermediate river enthusiasts alike.
