With a distinctly pure and danceable sound along with a powerfully intricate light show, Rocky Mountain electro-rockers Yamn made a name for themselves across Colorado and the nation with a vigorous touring schedule. Now, after more than a year out of the limelight to focus on impassioned writing and rehearsing as well as a come back performance opening for, Moe., at the Ogden Theater in November, Yamn returns for 2 full sets.
The Denver-based quartet will celebrate their first full Headlining performance on the Front Range in sixteen months. Performing a ton of new material that has never been heard before and bringing in their best light show to date, in turn making sure this performance is destined to be an epic evening on February 15, 2013 at The Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO. Local Denver dance creators and friends, Bedrockk, will be opening the show.
Yamn will be teaming up with Conscious Alliance at the Bluebird Theater performance by hosting an “Art That Feeds” food drive. Bring 10 non-perishable food items (preferably healthy/organic foods) and receive a concert poster made specifically for the show. Yamn will also be donating to the Denver School of the Arts Friends Foundation and Denver Public Schools Foundation with the help of local artist Lauren Larkin, CAM ShoWear and TH!S. Lauren Larkin will be silent auctioning off a hand painted canvas made for the show, CAM ShoWear will be donating a portion of their proceeds, and TH!S will be selling a very limited number of posters made specifically for the show in which proceeds will go to the progams. Yamn will be donating 20% of their merchandise sales to the programs as well.
Next on the winter tour will be a Headlining performance at the Aggie Theater with the recently transplanted live-tronica trio, The Malah, on March 1, and a set at Colorado’s largest winter music festival, Snowball, March 8. Set time at Snowball TBA.
Yamn olls on: lively beats, grooves that cause instant and contagious grins to ripple across the undulating crowds, heart-warming peaks and head-banging rock riffs. This refreshed and revitalized Yamn is a band hungrier than ever to push the limits of progressive live-tronica. New to the band is keyboard player Paul Evans, a recent Denver transplant from Richmond, Va. who formerly played with the band Existor. Brian Hamilton leads the charge on guitar, executing precise, timely riffs and ripping into solos when the flow of the music calls for it. But now, Hamilton has an electronic production station at his fingertips so he, along with drummer Adam Ebensberger, can trigger samples and sounds, layering explosive precision over the band’s radiating organic energy.
All of the guys pitch in on vocals, creating a chorus that layers well with the rhythm section made up of Ebensberger and bassist David Duart. “We are stoked to be back on stage, playing bigger, better, and harder.” Duart says. “We want to really continue to work on growing the band and expanding on the success we have had thus far in Colorado and beyond. Our main priority though is putting out a new album and continuously writing new material.” Therefore, Yamn has begun a Kickstarter campaign at www.kickstarter.com to help raise money for the new album. The band is trying to raise $3000 to cover some of the initial costs of the album and will pick up the rest of the tab after that. There are many rewards associated with those who donate to the cause, such as a copy of the album, posters, t-shirts, and stickers. The more you donate the more rewards you receive. Those who donate $500 get to pick a cover that Yamn will perform live plus many other rewards, $1000 gets a private show for the donator and 50 of their closest friends, and so on.
Six years and more than 100,000 road miles after the original members met in cold and snowy Breckenridge, Colo., the trance-fusion rockers continue hurtling toward their evolving vision. As their dedication, virtuosity and pure enjoyment propelled them through the Colorado jam realm, the band has shared stages and tunes with such musicians as members of Moe., The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, The New Deal, EOTO, The Motet, Tea Leaf Green, ALO, Perpetual Groove, The Radiators and many more.
Yamn’s focus remains on the here, the now and the what-is-to-be. As the guys practice together hours a day four to five times a week, they’re continually fulfilling the journey of enhancing their lives and the lives of those listening with powerful and seductive sounds.
