Bull City Summit (BCS), the new U.S. showcase festival and conference celebrating innovation in Music, Arts, Science, and Technology, returns September 18-24 throughout downtown Durham, North Carolina, and is pleased to announce the first round of support artists for BCS headline shows at Motorco Music Hall.

On BCS Opening Night, North Carolina Soul Icon Lee Fields will be joined by award-winning Durham-native Jazz/Soul vocalist Mavis Poole. Crowned "Little Ella" by the late legendary trombonist Curtis Fuller, Mavis has generated quite a buzz on the international music scene. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham, Mavis is classically trained in Jazz Vocal Studies, and has both a BA and Masters in Music, and has shared the stage with powerhouses including Prince, Lauryn Hill, and Gladys Knight, to name a few.

On Tuesday September 19, legendary New Orleans Americana Legend Anders Osborne will be joined by long-time friend and music collaborator, Jamie McLean Band. The pair had previously wrote and recorded McLean's New Orleans Sessions EP together, and Jamie was a BCS showcasing artist in 2022 at Durham's The Blue Note Grill. Over the years, Jamie has played with a literal who's who of musical talent including Gregg Allman, Dr. John, and Trombone Shorty, with appearances at major North American music festivals including Bonnaroo and Ottawa Blues Fest. We're super excited to see him join Anders on the Motorco stage this year.

On Friday September 22, Brooklyn Noise Experimentalists A Place To Bury Strangers will be joined by dark alternative blues and Raleigh-native rocker, Emily Wolfe, who's music has been described as a sonic merging of PJ Harvey and Jack White. With three album releases plus multiple singles as well as EPs under her belt, Emily has been on an absolute tear this year, rocking festivals around the country and currently supporting The Gaslight Anthem on their Spring 2023 U.S. tour. Now based in Austin, TX, we are looking forward to welcoming Emily back to the Triangle this Fall.

BCS Closing Night features Canadian Electro Rockers Death From Above 1979 joined by Durham's own moshpit messiah, JOOSELORD. A BCS 2022 showcasing artist opening for hip-hop virtuoso and Fool's Gold label owner A-Trak, JOOSELORD's blend of purpose-driven hip-hop, punk, and thrash, has continued to take North Carolina by storm, adding recipient of It's Your Time Conference $10,000.00 Artist Development Award to his list of accolades alongside features in INDY Week and previously winning WRAL's Voters Choice Awards.
