The Boulder Theater is thrilled to welcome swing revival pioneers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on June 18, 2025, for a night of vibrant, high-energy music. After 32 years of electrifying performances, the band continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their signature blend of jazz, swing, and dixieland, combined with the spirit of contemporary culture.

Formed in the early 1990s in Ventura, California, and co-founded by singer Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy quickly garnered attention for reintroducing swing music to a new generation. During their storied residency at the Derby nightclub in Los Angeles, they became a key force in the swing revival, epitomizing cool and sophisticated style amid a musical landscape dominated by grunge.

Today, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all-original core lineup consists of:

    Scotty Morris (lead vocals, guitar)
    Kurt Sodergren (drums)
    Dirk Shumaker (double bass, vocals)
    Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone, vocals)
    Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet)
    Karl Hunter (saxophones, clarinet)
    Joshua Levy (piano, arranger)

Over the years, the band has built an impressive résumé. Their music was famously featured in the 1996 indie hit Swingers, propelling them to a broader audience and jumpstarting a cultural swing revival. They have appeared on television shows such as Dancing With The Stars, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (seven times), and in countless films and TV series including The Wild, Despicable Me, Phineas & Ferb, and Friends. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy also performed at the Super Bowl XXXIII Halftime Show and have shared the stage with several of America’s most distinguished symphony orchestras, entertaining audiences of all ages at over 3,000 live shows to date.

Despite their extensive catalog and impressive history, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy continues to push forward, entertaining longtime fans while reaching new audiences with their dynamic performances and classic-meets-modern style. Don’t miss this chance to experience their electric live show at the Boulder Theater on June 18.
