Big Something and Possum Holler Productions are thrilled to announce the return of their beloved music and arts camping festival, The Big What?, from August 22-24, 2024, at the picturesque Shakori Hills in Pittsboro, NC. Celebrating its tenth year, the festival promises an unforgettable weekend of live music, art, and camping.
This year’s edition of The Big What? features an all-star lineup of musicians, bands and special collaborations curated by the members of Big Something across multiple stages, promising a diverse and immersive auditory and visual experience. The festival will host a series of unique sets by Big Something over three nights, alongside a special Andy Frasco Superjam that will see members of several bands join forces for a memorable musical spectacle.
Additional performers include Doom Flamingo, Brownie & Something (featuring Marc Brownstein of the Disco Biscuits, Zach Brownstein, members of Big Something plus other special guests), Late Night Radio, Shadowgrass, Elephant Proof featuring Ben Atkind and many more. The weekend also welcomes “secret” acoustic sets from Dr. Bacon, Ranford Almond, and The Wright Ave, among others, showcasing the vibrancy of the Carolinas’ music scene.
“I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 10 years,” said Nick MacDaniels, guitarist and vocalist for Big Something. “We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into when we first decided to throw a music festival. Watching it grow from the original idea into the community it has become today has been so cool.”
Hosted at Shakori Hills Community Arts Center, The Big What? celebrates local culture, environmental sustainability, and artistic expression. The weekend will also feature an immersive art gallery, fire and flow performers, and uniquely curated fan experiences hosted by Big Something. The event venue, Shakori Hills, stands out for its commitment to supporting local music, arts, and education, while providing a platform for nationally touring acts and emerging talent from the Carolinas to shine.
