Rising Birmingham-based bluegrass trailblazers Mountain Grass Unit are thrilled to announce the release of their Runnin’ From Trouble LP, now available as a special edition vinyl. This limited-edition package is pressed on stunning 150g dusk brown vinyl, and features the full tracklist from their original 2024 EP, Runnin’ From Trouble, on Side A, and five exclusive live performances on Side B, featuring curated cuts of the band’s dynamic artistry on wax for the first time.
The Runnin’ From Trouble LP builds upon the acclaim of the original EP, known for its intricate melodies and heartfelt storytelling, while adding a raw, unfiltered dimension with live recordings captured during the band’s groundbreaking 2024 tour. Side A includes standout tracks like the poignant “Lonesome Dove,” alongside fan favorites “Cicada Song,” and “Boxcar,” which have become staples in the band’s setlists. On Side B, listeners are treated to captivating live performances of “One Way Track,” “Jericho,” and “Where I Land,” as well as a vibrant rendition of the bluegrass classic “Train on the Island.” Adding a unique twist, the live sessions also include a soulful interpretation of Stone Temple Pilots’ “Interstate Love Song.” Together, these tracks showcase the blend of precision and spontaneous brilliance that defines Mountain Grass Unit’s lighting-in-a-bottle rise.

The release follows a monumental year for the band, highlighted by a string of standout performances, including a sold-out night at Asheville, NC’s renowned Orange Peel and a headlining set at the iconic Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Most recently, the band brought their signature sound to Camp Cosmic, hosted by Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, at the world-famous Caverns in Pelham, TN. Over two unforgettable nights, MGU captivated audiences with their genre-defying style in a natural, awe-inspiring setting. The weekend also included a standout moment when Donato invited Josiah Nelson, Drury Anderson, and Luke Black to join him onstage during his Saturday headlining set, earning thunderous applause from the capacity crowd. Fans can relive these performances exclusively on nugs.net, with both sets available for rewatch free for subscribers.
Following this milestone performance, the release of the Runnin’ From Trouble LP sets the stage for the band’s massive 53-date summer tour, running May through early September 2025. Fans can get their hands on the limited-edition vinyl online at Mountain Grass Unit’s store, as well as at merch stands during the tour.
