Multi-instrumentalist, educator and songwriter Bobby Deitch proudly announces the release of his band’s second full-length album entitled Work With Whatcha Got!. The Bobby Deitch Band rolled out three singles over the past 6 weeks along with accompanying videos and tons of original content all leading up to the full album drop TODAY!
“The overall sound of the music is designed to make listeners feel good, much in the same way Motown and soul bands do. The songs are all completely different.” says Deitch. “The title track (Work With Whatcha Got) is an uptempo, funk/rock song designed to inspire people to pursue their best attributes. I was honored to sing a duet with George Porter Jr., Meters bassist on “Constant Complainer” which was referring to those people who often do not live in the moment and see too much negativity in their lives. “If Looks Could Kill” was inspired by an encounter with the percussionist from the Les McCann band who had an eye for my girlfriend (now my wife). “Live Together” is my protest type song, much like Marvin Gaye’s What’s Goin’ On.
Recorded at Call Hollow Studios, Pomona, NY, Les Paul Studios Mahwah, NJ’s and Colorado Sound, Westminster, CO, Work With Whatcha Got! has quite the roster of incredible special guest musicians including members of Lettuce (Adam Deitch, Nigel Hall, Eric Benny Bloom and Adam Shmeeans Smirnoff), Turkuaz (Shira Elias and Michelangelo Carubba), saxophonist Baron Raymonde (Original Blues Brothers/Rod Stewart ), George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Steveland Swatkins (Allen Stone) and Hayley Jane (Hayley Jane & The Primates). The nine-track album was produced by BDB member Matt Wayne with help from Deitch over the course of two years. Bobby’s wife Denise was the inspiration behind many of the songs. Their overall message is to bring people together to create a better world while spreading love through music!
Notable tracks on the album include a Deitch & George Porter Jr. duet on “Constant Complainer”, “Live Together” as the band’s first official protest anthem, a very funky “If Looks Could Kill,” featuring a killer talkbox solo by Steveland Swatkins, a vocal duet with Deitch and his wife Denise on “You’re All That Matters To Me”, and a fiery guitar solo by Scott Reeves on “Love Is Just A Kiss Away”.
