Armadillo World Studios in partnership with the GRAMMY Museum® has announced that 12x GRAMMY-winning musician, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and critically-acclaimed solo artist Chris Shiflett has been added as host of the upcoming special documentary series preview event for "THEY CALLED US OUTLAWS” on Monday, December 5. The program will go behind the scenes of the upcoming six-chapter, twelve-hour documentary on the history and legacy of the Cosmic Cowboys, Honky Tonk Heroes and the Outlaw country-rock movement. The event will feature a special appearance by "THEY CALLED US OUTLAWS" Executive Producer and GRAMMY Hall of Fame Award Recipient Jessi Colter, and a screening from the film that focuses on her life and work.
Chris Shiflett, also a key player in the series, will guide a discussion with filmmakers Eric Geadelmann and Kelly Magelky, who will be joined by two-time GRAMMY nominee and film series narrator, Jack Ingram and musician Chris Coleman. The evening’s performances will feature two-time GRAMMY® nominee Tyler Childers, joined by fellow Appalachian singer/songwriters John R. Miller and Abby Hamilton, and from two-time GRAMMY winner Shooter Jennings joined by Jesse Daniel.
“I love the Outlaw era of Country Music and am excited to chat and hang with all these great artists next week at the GRAMMY Museum,” says Chris Shiflett. “I know ‘THEY CALLED US OUTLAWS’ has been a long time coming and I'm honored that Eric and Jack asked me to be a part of it.”
“Chris Shiflett is a major highlight of this entire project,” says filmmaker Eric Geadelmann. “His outlaw ethos and troubadour spirit elevate the film series, with a unique perspective that enhances the story beats of the narrative, making them even more relevant. We are beyond enthused for Chris to join us for this incredible event.”
