Critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer Danny Burns is back with his latest single "Blue Ridge Blue," available now on all digital platforms via Bonfire Music Group. Showcasing Burns’ signature blend of Americana, Roots, and Bluegrass, the song features an all-star lineup of guest musicians. Fans can download or stream the song HERE.
Delivering a soulful and emotive vocal performance, Burns brings Jim Beavers’ heartfelt storytelling to life on "Blue Ridge Blue." The song’s rich instrumentation includes standout performances from Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle, harmony vocals), Sam Bush (mandolin, harmony vocals), Justin Moses (Dobro), Jerry Roe (drums), Ethan Burkhardt (upright bass), Matt Menefee (banjo), Cody Kilby (acoustic guitar) and Billy Contreras (fiddle and strings). It was mixed and mastered by Luke Wooten and assisted by Austin Stanley. The track follows a string of chart-topping hits from Burns' previous album Promised Land, which included No. 1 singles "Dirty Old Town," "Someone Like You," and "Come to Jesus," the latter spending an impressive 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Gospel Airplay Chart.
“We’ve been working in the studio with Luke Wooten (Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, The SteelDrivers), owner of Station West Studios, and he shared some songs from Jim Beavers. I’ve always been a fan of Jim’s writing—his work is everywhere, whether people realize it or not. I really loved his brother’s production work on the early Dierks records” says Danny Burns. “This song arrived at just the right time, and I can’t wait to share it with folks.”
He adds, “‘Blue Ridge Blue’ is a story I know well. I’ve driven through the Blue Ridge what feels like a million times, traveling over the years from Greenville to Knoxville along I-26 and I-40. Missing one’s family while hitting the hillbilly highways to Nashville—that route home to Charleston always brings this song to mind.”
The latest single sets the stage for Southern Sky, Burns' next full-length project, which promises to be a standout release in the Americana, Roots and Bluegrass scene. Fans can expect more special guest collaborations, to be revealed soon, along with a collection of songs that stay true to Burns’ unique sound—infusing traditional acoustic elements with the rich storytelling of his Irish roots. Once again, Burns steps into the role of record producer, bringing the very best A-list players in Nashville together to take listeners on a journey.
