Today Dark Star Orchestra announces its 21-date Summer Tour with plans to crisscross the Midwest and East Coast with a mix of outdoor amphitheaters, indoor theaters, and festivals. DSO continues the Grateful Dead concert celebration with over 3300 shows under its belt. The tour announcement is highlighted by two specific ‘venue recreations’ as they’ll perform a historic Deer Creek show at Connor Prairie in Fisher, Indiana and a historic Merriweather Grateful Dead show when they debut at The Chrysalis at Merriweather Park in Columbia, MD.
On Friday, August 15 in New York City, the Dark Star Orchestra - Grateful Guitars Foundation Benefit offers an exclusive pre-show VIP reception at the iconic Rooftop at Pier 17. This intimate benefit supports GGF’s mission to commission world-class musical instruments for talented players seeking to carry on the tradition of jam band music and to fund music education programs.
The VIP reception is limited to 100, featuring a meet & greet with members of DSO, rare gear on display – including Jerry Garcia’s Alligator guitar – a silent auction featuring extraordinary memorabilia, an exclusive VIP swag package and curated food & drink.
