Davy Knowles and his previous band ‘Back Door Slam’ have garnered rave reviews, national television appearances (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Good Morning America), extensive triple-A radio airplay, and four top 5 Billboard Blues charting albums. As an in-demand blues man, he has appeared with The Who, Jeff Beck, Gov’t Mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Bonamassa, Sonny Landreth, and Joe Satriani among many others.
If you think you know Knowles from his prior work, If I Should Wander will come as a bit of a wonder. This is, in many ways, a simple record. Just a man and his guitar creating eloquent, confessional acoustic music that is breathtakingly beautiful.

This first single tackles the interpersonal dialogue when deciding to leave home, family, and all he’s ever known to pursue his dreams and a life beyond the comforts and safety he’s known. The feelings of guilt and fear of failure of letting those closest to him down shine through amongst the somberly beautiful acoustic guitar playing reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”. This first installment lays the groundwork for the emotions present throughout the rest of the album, and the raw, personal insight into the life of an artist attempting to balance his personal ambition with being the best son, husband, and father he can.
It's fair to consider If I Should Wander less an album and more a diary set to music. For the very first time in his career the songs came flowing out - one after the other, and in the order they appear on the finished album. While this music is in a radically different style than anything Knowles had previously written, it comes straight from his creative center- and his heart.
In keeping with the way these songs were written, and what they were written about, Knowles decided to record these at home, in his own little music room. Close, personal, intimate. More like a confessional than a recording. No frills, no trickery, and just one microphone. So turn down the lights, sit back, and bathe in the sound of Davy’s immaculate playing on an acoustic guitar, free from amplification or accompaniment.
