Denver-based folk and Americana songwriter Carolyn Shulman is set to release her highly anticipated second full-length album, Heart on a Wire, on September 20th, 2024. This new collection of ten original songs showcases Shulman's growth as an artist since her 2021 debut, Grenadine & Kerosene. The album delves into character-driven narratives, social issues, and deeply personal themes, offering listeners a richer, more nuanced sound.
Produced by John McVey at Cinder Sound Studio in Longmont, Colorado, Heart on a Wire features a full band of some of the state's most accomplished musicians. The album spans a range of styles, from traditional acoustic folk with bluegrass influences to a more expansive folk-rock and Americana sound. The result is a sonically warm and emotionally resonant album that reflects Shulman’s evolution as a songwriter.
Album Release Party
To celebrate the release of Heart on a Wire, Carolyn Shulman will host an album release party at the renowned Swallow Hill Music on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. The event will feature a special performance by Shulman, with co-bill from Shauna Sweeney. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show starting at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Carolyn Shulman’s journey to a full-time music career is both inspiring and unconventional. After seven years as a lawyer in Houston, Texas, she decided to pursue her lifelong passion for writing and performing original music. Heavily influenced by contemporary folk and Americana legends such as Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Patty Griffin, Shulman’s music combines poignant lyrics with skillful guitar work.
Her debut album, Grenadine & Kerosene, was met with critical acclaim, reaching number 22 on the Folk Radio Charts and solidifying her place as a rising star in the Americana music scene. Shulman was also a finalist in the 2022 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase.
