Fruition brings this to bear on their new record, “Watching It All Fall Apart,” a dynamic meditation on heartbreak and loss. Released on February 2, 2018 on LoHi Records, their fifth full length album is filled with Fruition’s uniquely resonant sound, brimming with powerful lyrics, lush harmonies, and groovetastic melodies.
The songs move seamlessly from roots rock to folk to alt-country. Heartfelt and soothing, they offer consolation to those going through tough times in love. Lead single “I’ll Never Sing Your Name,” a punchy promise against ever putting a formerly beloved’s name to music, is the ultimate break-up song for a songwriter. The upbeat tune features vocals with a hint of slapback echo that makes the vivid lyrics cut even deeper.
“Northern Town” is a bittersweet ode to life on the road. “Here to my home is like here to the stars,” Mimi Naja sings, plaintively relating the tug-of-war between following the musical dream to the far reaches of the world and the deep pull of love and home.
Standout track “Let’s Take It Too Far” bursts with golden harmonies over a cool country shuffle and reflects the infinite possibilities in this wild world. “Let’s get swallowed by the beauty of it all tonight. Let’s take it too far.”
