The Ghost Caravan, a queer indie folk band from Poughkeepsie, NY, released their debut album, Hineni, January 22nd. Led by frontman Kyle Benor, the album combines lush arrangements with rock, folk, and chamber instruments.
Hineni is a concept album centered around crossing one's own metaphorical bridge. The songs are in this way an analysis of themselves.
“A lot of our inspirations in making the music that we do stems from wanting to carve out a niche for music about self-growth that is inclusive for everyone, which I haven't yet found for myself in this often hyper-masculine male-dominated scene,” says frontman Kyle Benor, “I often think I could've just written a breakup record to get my feelings out, but I don't think there's much benefit in that for anyone. I wrote songs analyzing my behavior and arranged them like story beats that tell this cohesive tale of growth (although it certainly didn't happen that way).”
Ultimately, the intention of the album was to guide listeners through what they are going through, to help them reconcile with the past for each step they take until they feel ready to move on.
