Connecticut-based rock band Goose made their return to Avondale Brewing Company in Birmingham, AL for a fiery two set performance in support of Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Originally slated to perform in Asheville, NC, the relocated show brought a packed house to the familiar venue, where in collaboration with Conscious Alliance funds were raised for local organizations like BeLoved Asheville and Hearts with Hands, who are providing immediate aid to those impacted by the devastating storm.

After taking the stage, the band wasted no time finding their groove as they treated their faithful followers to a high-energy “Elizabeth” opener before following it up with recent live-staple “Atlas Dogs.” The patient jam allowed the rhythm section to flourish, creating an early pocket for the rest of the band to explore before finding their way into the recently debuted “One in, One Out.” The dynamic finish led perfectly into a cover of Bon Iver’s AUATC, allowing the five piece  to explore a more melodic space before stepping into the improvisational “Interlude II.” The spacey segue was balanced by the band moving quickly into the funky delights of Jive I and Jive Lee, setting the stage for an explosive and uptempo “Big Modern!” to end the first set.

Following a brief set break, the jam quintet set the tone for the six song second set by exploring a heavy and dynamic “Drive” before stepping into the time machine for a styled cover of A-ha’s “Take on Me” that kept the crowd moving. The 80’s classic was followed up by a soulful “Rockdale” that allowed the set to breathe before the band launched into a high octane rendition of “Creatures.” Weaving a complex sonic soundscape, Creatures found a deep pocket that allowed for some of the band's most improvisational jamming of the night, before finding a similar space in a vibey cover of Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” Closing the set was a haunting rendition of “Slow Ready” followed by a fiery “Thatch” encore that officially wrapped the night of community support.

Fall Tour continues on for Goose, with five performances in Florida, followed by appearances in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. on deck.
