Alta Music Festival is proud to announce its #RockNRefill partnership with REVERB and Nalgene in efforts to create an environmentally conscious event on October 15th at Avila Beach Resort. Artists for the debut event include Iration, Nahko And Medicine For The People, Collie Buddz, Unified Highway, and Wheeland Brothers.
In an effort to eliminate single-use plastic waste, the Alta Music Festival has partnered with the environmental non-profit REVERB and their #RockNRefill program. Dan Sheehan, festival producer, states, “Through this program, we strive to be a successful green and forward-thinking festival that makes the right choices not only with our music lineup and experience, but also with the way we can sustain our environment by making conscious choices from our water programs to our commitment to the California Condors.” Every ticket will include a $5 fee that will not only go toward single-use plastic free solutions, but will also provide every ticket holder with a custom 32oz Alta Music Festival NALGENE bottle. Free filtered water stations will be provided on site for all fans to use at the festival.
Tanner Watt, partnerships and development director at REVERB says, “We are excited to be teaming up with Alta Music Festival for our #RockNRefill program. By eliminating single - use plastic and encouraging the use and reuse of refillable water bottles the #RockNRefill program estimates diverting between 15,000 and 20,000 single-use plastic bottles from the landfill. This year the #RockNRefill program got in front of an estimated 2,338,500 music fans in the United States and we are proud Alta Music Festival’s first year will be a part of this success.”
The #RockNRefill program supported 49 non-profit organizations across the country raising nearly $600,000 for non-profit efforts in 2016. Based on 14 fill-ups per bottle (ppc estimate), REVERB and NALGENE will have successfully diverted 820,540 single-use plastic bottles from landfill at the end of this season. If participants use their #RockNRefill bottles for one year (based on PPC figure of 167 single-use bottles annually per American), the program will have diverted 9,787,870 single-use bottles from landfills.
