We are overjoyed to announce Warren Haynes will be playing Jerry Garcia's beloved “Tiger” guitar at SummerStage in Central Park on August 8th. Built specifically for Garcia by luthier Doug Irwin, Tiger debuted with the Grateful Dead on August 4th, 1979 and remained Garcia’s primary guitar for over a decade. Haynes is the first to perform on the guitar since Garcia last played it during his final performance with the Grateful Dead on July 9th, 1995 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Special thanks to Jim Irsay, Tiger’s steward, who has graciously provided Tiger for our tour closing performance in New York City.

Plus, Eric Krasno and Marco Benevento will be joining Warren and the band on stage for a very special encore without the orchestra, playing improvisations centered around Grateful Dead & Jerry Garcia Band favorites.

The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration Featuring Warren Haynes will perform with a 40+ piece symphony in New York, NY at Central Park SummerStage on Monday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. Curated by the Jerry Garcia family, the celebration will give prominence to Garcia and lyricist Robert Hunter's timeless original compositions and interpretations of songs that became standards at Jerry Garcia Band and Grateful Dead concerts. The highly-acclaimed fourth tour and groundbreaking collaboration of renowned orchestras and Haynes will continue to shine new light on the music and cultural significance of Jerry Garcia.

This year, the Grammy-winning singer/guitarist will be joined for the first time by revered long-time Jerry Garcia Band vocalist Jacklyn LaBranch. LaBranch was an integral part of the latter era Jerry Garcia Band and helped define their signature sound by injecting her gospel and soul inspired vocals. The Symphonic Celebration band also includes bassist Lincoln Schleifer, drummer Jeff Sipe and vocalist Jasmine Muhammad.

2016 marks first time collaborations with the Nashville Symphony (June 23), Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (June 24) and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic (August 6), as well as the tour's much anticipated first performance in New York City (August 8). The Tanglewood performance in Lenox, MA (July 1) with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops marked the fourth collaboration, which included two prior sold out performances at Boston's Symphony Hall and a historic 2013 performance at Tanglewood. This was also the third performance with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (August 1). For a full list of tour dates, visit www.JerryGarcia.com.
