Jonathan Scales Fourchestra are no strangers to pushing musical genre boundaries. This month, in preview to a new self-titled album to be released this summer, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra takes their unparalleled show on the road with stops throughout the Southeast and Gulf Coast before heading up to the Northeast. A full schedule is below. This summer, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra will release a self-titled album of cerebral tunes that further blur the lines of jazz. Each member of the trio contributes a distinctive voice to the ensemble. Wielding steel pans, Jonathan Scales incorporates a contemporary jazz attitude into arrangements that tap into funk, rock, jam, and Latin sensibilities. Drummer/ percussionist Phill Bronson grounds the trio’s compositions with an agile, metronome-like sensitivity that has been praised by Victor Wooten, Oteil Burbridge, Chris Thile, and Ellie Mannette. And bassist Cody Wright ties it all together by incorporating a hybrid fusion picking style and creating deeper undertones of connection between drums and steel pans. Guest contributors on Jonathan Scales Fourchestra include Grammy winners Victor Wooten and Howard Levy (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones), fiddle virtuoso Casey Driessen, and members of the Michael Bublé Band.
