On the heels of her release of the single ‘Deep Blue Water’, songweaver Robin Lewis shares the public release of her first full length album titled Earth & Sky along with a video for the lead single ‘Ease My Worried Mind’ produced and filmed by NoCoast at The String Cheese Incident studio in Louisville, CO. Lewis’s music guides hearts to beat to the same rhythm and is centered around vulnerable moments of the human experience. “I feel this music is good medicine for the times we are collectively experiencing,” Lewis conveys. “I used the lyrics in these songs to paint images for the listeners to get back to nature, and most importantly, the connection to each other.”
Earth & Sky is a deep dive into those big picture topics of life, and the interconnectedness of it all. Every track embodies Lewis’s notable sound, combining soulful vocals, flowing between styles and moods, layered with elegant, finger-picking. The album focuses on deep and meaningful themes that will resonate with any human right now as the collective is isolated and homebound. Hiking, exploring outside. Meditation and love, exploring inside.
There is an immense amount of depth and philosophical thinking weaved into each track on Earth & Sky. ‘White Dove’ was written for Lewis’s Mom after she was diagnosed with a chronic illness. ‘Trails’ is about hiking and the healing that comes from mother earth. ‘Sun & Moon’ delves into the sacred dance of life and death. The lead single ‘Ease My Worried Mind’, written by Lewis & then partner and guitar player Colin Boyle, has a more soulful aesthetic that conveys the calm and peace that loved ones bring...that warm golden grounded feeling in your heart.
“These songs came about over a two or three year period of my life. Most of them were penned on my back porch near Horsetooth Rock in the foothills of Fort Collins, CO. Others came to be at the start of a new relationship, as I was processing some of the big picture questions in life. A lot of what I was doing with songwriting at this time was trying to convey a love and connection to the earth without sounding cheesy or contrived” explains Lewis.
As Lewis emerges from a cocoon as a breakthrough artist, she has created a sleek new brand, a contemporary website, alongside a new team including manager Jeff Swager of Symbiotic Events and Katie Fox, owner of the digital media & branding agency, Blooming Footprint.
And tune in as Lewis opens for American Idol winner Phillip Phillips this Friday, December 11 at 6pm MST during the Holiday Edition of Hormel Foods “Virtual Live Concert of Hope & Thanks for Our Inspired People” with an online auction benefiting Conscious Alliance. “Robin is just a breath of fresh air during a time when we all need it. Her voice and lyrics are magic. We can’t wait to see her on the stage again soon.” said Justin Levy, Executive Director of Conscious Alliance who has had Lewis warming up the intimate crowds for Colorado best and most well known artists, including Bill & Jilian Nershi of String Cheese Incident and Todd Park Mohr of Big Head Todd & The Monsters, at their 2020 private shows.
Lewis has toured the country with Free Range Pickens (with Taylor Shuck of Wood Belly), Earth & Sky (with Tobias of Whippoorwill), Cedarwing (with Hope Medford of Nahko and Medicine for the People) and received an honorable mention in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour competition, alongside songwriters from across the nation.
