Grateful Dead fans and classic rock enthusiasts will have one final chance to see legendary pianist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Tom Constanten perform live as he embarks on his highly anticipated farewell tour this fall. Constanten, whose pioneering keyboard work was a cornerstone of the Grateful Dead’s sound during their most transformative years, will join forces with the supergroup Live Dead & Brothers for an unforgettable series of performances in September and October.

“There are so many people along the way who I’m looking forward to seeing on this upcoming tour. I’m looking forward to decades’ worth of catching up…I did that once backstage at a Grateful Dead show,” shared Constanten.

The farewell tour promises to be a celebration of the Grateful Dead’s legacy, their collaborative performance history with The Allman Brothers Band, and the enduring spirit of improvisational rock. Constanten will be joined by a stellar lineup of musicians, each with deep roots in the music that defined a generation:

Berry Duane Oakley (Allman Betts Band) – The son of the original Allman Brothers Band bassist, Berry Duane Oakley carries on his family's rich musical tradition with soulful bass lines and powerful vocals.
Les Dudek – Renowned for his guitar work on the Allman Brothers Band’s legendary album Brothers and Sisters, Dudek’s virtuosity is a perfect complement to the band’s expansive jams.
Mark Karan – A veteran of the Grateful Dead’s extended family, Karan has played guitar with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and The Other Ones, bringing a deep understanding of the Dead’s improvisational approach.
Scott Guberman – As a longtime collaborator with Phil Lesh, Guberman’s keyboard skills and deep connection to the music make him a vital part of the ensemble.
Pete Lavezzoli – Known for his work with the Melvin Seals-led JGB (Jerry Garcia Band), Jazz Is Dead, and Dead & Company’s Oteil Burbridge, Lavezzoli’s drumming will drive the band’s powerful rhythms.

On a more personal note, Constanten remarks, “The joy of playing with these exalted musicians, and sharing it with ever-burgeoning crowds, is a delight to behold.”

Tom Constanten’s farewell tour with Live Dead & Brothers is more than just a series of concerts—it’s a final chance to experience the magic of a musician who helped shape the sound of the Grateful Dead and influenced countless artists that followed. The tour will showcase the unique blend of rock, jazz, blues, and improvisational magic that made the Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers cultural phenomena that left an indelible mark on the world of music.

As he reflects on his journey, Constanten shares, “Discovering the harmonic playfulness in the Allman catalog is inspiring. In my museum of appreciation, another wing is going up!”
