Louisiana’s LeRoux Serves Musical Gumbo on One of Those Days

Forty-two years after its debut album and 18 years after its most recent studio recording, bayou rock legend Louisiana’s LeRoux is back with a stunning new studio album entitled One of Those Days. From the hard-driving title tune that opens the record to the album’s finale, a rich and vibrant version of the band’s classic ballad “New Orleans Ladies,” One of Those Days displays LeRoux at its best, with memorable songs, soaring harmonies, killer instrumental work, and tight arrangements.

Founding guitarist Tony Haselden and keyboardist Rod Roddy join long-time LeRoux guitarist Jim Odom and keyboardist Nelson Blanchard, percussionist Mark Duthu, drummer Randy Carpenter, bassist Joey Decker, and lead vocalist Jeff McCarty in the current ensemble. They’re joined by a long list of outstanding guests, including LeRoux cofounding bass player Leon Medica and fabled guitarist Tab Benoit. The gang’s all here, and the ten tunes on One of Those Days make it clear that they’re all as good or better than ever. “It’s the best combination of LeRoux's musical palette and represents the abilities of the band better than any album we’ve probably ever done,” asserts Haselden. “It covers a wide spectrum of blues, southern rock, and zydeco.”

Clearly the band is having a grand ol’ time, and their enthusiasm and relentless groove come across in every song. “From the moment those drums start, there is no doubt that ‘Lucy Anna’ is one of those great Louisiana songs designed to get us off our asses and dancing around,” enthuses Music Blog’s Michael Doherty. “This is a song that effectively shouts New Orleans… but it is that groove that really grabs me. This is a ridiculously fun track," The Rocker (UK) remarks, “Musically, this record is magnificent. They know how to write a memorable chorus, and you’re never more than a two-step away from a good melody.” “A blue jean delight complete with ripped knees that weren’t pre-bought,” declares Jazz Weekly. “The new delivery of these long-haul truckers lacks neither feeling nor groove and endeavors to let the good times roll,” adds Fred Delforge of Zicazine.

Produced by Jeff Glixman and mostly recorded and mixed at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, One of Those Days is being released by hot new label Gulf Coast Records. "Having LeRoux join us on Gulf Coast Records is a dream come true,” label co-founder Mike Zito exults. “From the hits of the ‘70s and ‘80s to the fantastic line up of 2020, LeRoux has continued to be innovators of the Southern Louisiana Gulf Coast sound. The band is on fire, and singer Jeff McCarty is without a doubt the perfect fit for this iconic musical force."

One of Those Days will be released on July 24, 2020. A special pre-release purchase option is available on iTunes, Google Play, and www.leroux.band.
