Today, acclaimed New Orleans-based future funk collective Naughty Professor released the live studio video for “Venison Poetry,” off of their new album, Identity.  “Venison Poetry”  features percussion virtuoso Mike Dillon (Les Claypool’s Fancy Band, Primus, Garage A Trois, Dean Ween Band, et al) on vibraphones and progressive jazz guitarist Cliff Hines (Cliff Hines Band). Naughty Professor is currently on an extensive album release tour, with dates upcoming in Boulder, Denver, Brooklyn, Boston and more. The band has  additionally announced that they will be joining TAUK on tour for select dates this Fall. All announced dates are below and tickets are available at www.naughtyprofessormusic.com.

Naughty Professor recently released their highly-anticipated new album, Identity, to praise from critics and fans alike. Within days of its release, Identity shot up the iTunes Jazz charts to #6. The album’s first single, “Stray,” featuring David Shaw of The Revivalists, has received over a quarter million streams on Spotify. GLIDE Magazine describes, “The aptly-named album deftly merges each band member’s unique style and influences with those of artists such as Mike Dillon, Chali 2na, David Shaw, and Ivan Neville, capturing a sound that’s both accessible and interesting, unexpected yet familiar.” Currently available on all digital service providers, Identity can also be purchased physically as a CD/DVD bundle, which includes in-studio footage of every track on the album, here.

Mixed by Grammy-Award winning producer Qmillion (Robert Glasper’s “Black Radio” Vol. 1 & 2), Naughty Professor raises the stakes on Identity. Where their prior releases showcased the group's knack for self-contained instrumentals, Identity finds the band teaming with a stellar assortment of more than a dozen cutting-edge collaborators – the result finds Naughty Professor expanding their music into exciting new territory. Sound and Silence observes, “Collaboration has brought out the best in Naughty Professor, spotlighting their versatility and ability to adapt.” The diversity and improvisational skills of the band are highlighted by the range of featured guests on the album – from the pop-sensibilities of The Revivalists’ David Shaw, to the politically charged hip-hop of Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na, Identity showcases Naughty Professor’s growth and range while seamlessly mixing and molding multiple genres, coming together to create a fascinating signature sound.

Naughty Professor has released multiple videos from the studios where Identity was recorded.
