Nicholas Jamerson, one of Kentucky’s brightest musical voices, has released his highly-anticipated sixth studio album, Peace Mountain, TODAY, May 19, 2023.
Jamerson’s infectious hooks and dynamic stage presence have been the subject of wide acclaim for over a decade. Both in his solo work and with his long standing country project Sundy Best (which Jamerson shares with fellow Kentuckian Kristopher Bentley), the bonafide troubadour shines with indisputable virtuosity.
On his most recent endeavor, Jamerson embraces his deeply Appalachian upbringing, weaving earnest lyrics, sentimental chord progressions and emotive melodies into arrangements that resonate fiercely. At the centerpiece of it all is Jamerson's gutting vocal tenor; raw, yet effortlessly flawless. Outlets like Rolling Stone have regarded Jamerson as "one of the best singers in the genre," while Whiskey Riff, Holler, Saving Country Music, and others have all paid compliments to Jamerson's outstanding songwriting talent.
With Peace Mountain, Jamerson paints an inspiring portrait of the region where he grew up, and where he now raises his young daughter. Infused with personal accounts of his own experiences in navigating life, love, and loss, Jamerson offers a breathtaking interpretation of the hero's journey strung together by hard work, faith, and virtue. Whiskey Riff calls the record “...an incredibly curated collection of Appalachian anthems, entertaining stories, and introspective ballads that weave seamlessly throughout the record with powerful lyricism and diverse instrumentation," while The Amp notes, “This whole record makes you feel good. From the time you hit play, til the final note at the end, the listener is completely captivated by not only the lyrics but the wonderful production." Upon sharing his recent single, “Billy Graham Parkway,” Billboard listed the track among “8 Must-Hear New Country Songs.”
This weekend, Jamerson will commemorate the release of Peace Mountain with the debut of his own Sleeping in the Woods Songwriter Festival in Lake Cumberland, KY. The inaugural event will see performances by Jim Lauderdale, Bella White, Katie Toupin (of Houndmouth) and many more. Weekend and Single Day passes are available at sleepinginthewoodsfestival.com.
