Eagle’s Bonfire Brewing and the musicians of SunSquabi, a Boulder based band on the rise, announced a partnership to promote music and craft beer across Colorado. Recognizing a unique opportunity to unite Colorado’s emerging electro-funk scene with the exploding American craft beer industry, the new partners hope to promote one another in exciting, innovative ways. The partnership takes effect immediately, with co-branded merchandise available now, and Bonfire beer featured at upcoming SunSquabi concerts in Colorado.
“We knew we wanted to find a partner in the craft beer industry -- it simply made sense given our passionate, craft-beer drinking fan base,” says Kyle Day, SunSquabi’s manager. Bass player Andrew Clymer echoed the sentiment, adding -- “We looked at quite a few other breweries as potential partners, and Bonfire stood out to us because of their commitment to growing solely within the state of Colorado. While we do travel all over the country, Colorado is home and it’s where we’ll play our biggest, most exciting shows.”
For its part, Bonfire is excited to begin work on creating a custom, co-branded beer that resonates with the band, their fans, and Bonfire’s growing customer base. The brewery also hopes to host the band in Eagle on occasion, with an eye toward a local music festival in the years ahead. Bonfire Co-founder Andy Jessen knew the band was a natural fit for the company the moment he cracked a beer with them. “I handed Kevin (SunSquabi’s talented guitarist) a ColoRadler, and after one sip he said ‘this is the perfect river beer -- not too sweet, and very subtle’ which is exactly what we had in mind when we brewed it.”
SunSquabi formed in 2011, with members Chris Anderson, Andrew Clymer and Kevin Donohue. The group has performed at some of the country’s most notable music festivals (Wakarusa, Sonic Bloom, SXSW and more). Since May 2012, the trio has been consistently touring the U.S. and has shared the stage with Big Gigantic, Pretty Lights, GriZ and many more.
Based in Eagle, one of Colorado’s coolest mountain towns, Bonfire Brewing has made face-meltingly delicious beer since 2010. Created in a glorified garage as a labor born of community, camaraderie, late nights and too early mornings, Bonfire prides itself on making tasty beers designed to spread the warmth among friends.
