Denver’s electro-funk collective, Tnertle will be releasing their first album under Super Best Records on November 10, 2015. The 11-track LP will be the fourth effort under the group’s belt but takes the group to new heights as they showcase modern production fused with live instruments. The new release is slated to be a standout and highly-anticipated release from one of Denver’s hottest groups on the rise.
Originally formed by longtime friends and Berklee College of Music graduates, Trent Campbell (production, MIDI controllers, bass) and Kyle Ayervais (drums), Tnertle hit the scene in 2012 and has made an exponential climb supporting the likes of RJD2, Papadosio, Opiuo, Ott., and more. Over the past year and a half, the duo has added horns, MCs, and guitars to thicken out their soundscape and cultivate a musical entourage that puts on stunning live performances.
"MataMata" will highlight Campbell’s production at its finest as it weaves through genres that cannot be pinpointed by a single definition. Having a background firmly rooted in composition and sound engineering, he has managed to create a product that showcases captivating melodies infused with carefully curated samples that exceed the realms of traditional production. "MataMata" is sure to appease fans of hip-hop, funk, nu-disco, and electro-swing alike and features a guest appearance from "the godfather of electro-soul" himself, Michal Menert. Denver's blossoming queen of hip-hop, Lily Fangz, will also lend her talents as a featured artist on the album.
Tnertle has evolved into an 8-piece collective with every musician holding an intricate piece of the musical puzzle. Leah Concialdi uses her arranging background to utilize a musical sound palate of baritone saxophone, soprano saxophone, and electronic wind instrument (EWI) to fill out Campbell’s melodies in the live setting. She has recently been joined by her ATOMGA band mate, Alice Hansen, on trumpet to give the group a full-ranged, dynamic horn section. MCs Ray Salazar and Lily Fangz spout out uplifting, mindful lyrics that add icing on the cake to a solid instrumental foundation. Most recently, the band has been joined by Ty Hughes and Taylor Steele on guitars to broaden the harmonic elements and lay down tasteful, jazz-laden fills.
The group will hold their CD release party at Cervantes’ Other Side on November 20, 2015. Supporting them will be Party Pants (ft. Mikey Thunder and Project Aspect), Skydyed, and Alixir.
They will also embark on series of supporting dates to spread the music far and wide across the front range and gear up towards an active 2016. The dates are as followed:
