Tortuga Music Festival, produced and promoted by HUKA Entertainment, features more than thirty of the hottest artists in country, rock and roots music as well as ocean conservation activations. The event serves to celebrate the festival’s ocean side setting while raising awareness of issues impacting the world’s oceans and supporting marine research and conservation, as well as protection of the festival’s namesake – sea turtles that nest annually along South Florida’s Atlantic seaboard.
“We’ve had a unanimously tremendous response from the artists, fans and community expressing what a unique and special event Tortuga has become,” says HUKA Entertainment Chief Experience Officer A.J. Niland, “We’re thrilled to be in the position to offer fans an extra day and more Tortuga-time on the sand.”
Chris Stacey, the co-founder of Tortuga and the founder of the Rock The Ocean Foundation adds “I am so proud that a portion of the proceeds from this amazing musical event can go back to help save our seas. So far, Tortuga Music Festival has given back over $250,000 to the Rock The Ocean Foundation. Rock The Ocean Foundation helps partner with and fund some of the best local and global organizations that work tirelessly to heal our oceans. Locally, groups like Nova Southeast University, Sea Turtle Oversite Protection, The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and many others receive funding from this very special concert.”
While Country superstar Blake Shelton has already been announced as a headliner for the 2016 festival the remainder of the performer line-up will remain under wraps for the time being, Niland says fans can expect the same caliber of talent to hit the beach at Tortuga as in previous years, which have featured the likes of Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Hank Williams, Jr., The Doobie Brothers, Billy Currington, Sheryl Crow, Brett Eldredge, Ziggy Marley, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, Lynryd Skynyrd, Frankie Ballard and many, many more.
This year's Conservation Village, which will again be curated by Rock The Ocean’s Chris Stacey, will play host to more than a dozen organizations dedicated to marine research and conservation, and will provide interactive, educational experiences for festival patrons.
Additionally, festivalgoers will again be encouraged to collect waste at the event site to minimize the festival’s impact on the environment, as in previous years, when fans were rewarded for their efforts with various premiums given in exchange for collected trash.
