Toubab Krewe’s CARNAVALITO, a two-day mini-fest, is taking place at the Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, NC on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th, 2012. Two eco-friendly transportation options are available with a shuttle running between Asheville, Pisgah Brewing Company and the KOA campground. Free admission for kids and special activities encourage families to attend. Toubab Krewe is also proud to announce special guest, Roosevelt Collier (The Lee Boys) on pedal steel will be joining them on stage both nights.
The outdoor event will feature headlining sets from Toubab Krewe with special guest Roosevelt Collier, as well as a different roster of supporting bands and DJs each day including Donna the Buffalo, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, Rayna Gellert and DJ Chalice. DJ Equal will top off both nights with indoor late night sets. Music begins at 7:00 PM on Friday and 4:00 PM on Saturday. Tickets are $41 (two-day admission) and $26 (one-day admission) and are on sale through the Pisgah Brewing Company event site (pisgahbrewing.com/events). VIP packages are available for $76 (two-day VIP admission) and $51 (one-day VIP admission) and include early entry to the event, a private guided brewery tour and tasting, preferred stage viewing, and more.
CARNAVALITO is a family friendly event. Kids ages 10 and under are free with a ticketed adult. On Saturday, children of all ages will dance to the rhythms and rhymes of Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, aka “The king of kid-hop.” Kids will also have a chance to play and interact with Moog instruments provided by the Bob Moog Foundation. Hooping Hearts will provide a hula hooping area, and patrons can relax in hammocks provided by Eagle Nest Outfitters while eating an ice cream cone from The Hop Ice Cream. Other food vendors include Barleys, Lowdown Food Truck and Rosetta's.
Daily round-trip shuttles are now available for $15 from Asheville and $7 from the Swannanoa KOA campground and can be purchased through the Pisgah Brewing Company event website (http://pisgahbrewing.com/
Biking enthusiasts can participate in Tour de Toubab, a leisurely community ride organized by Asheville on Bikes to raise awareness for a greenway. The ride goes from downtown Asheville on Friday to the KOA campground in Swannanoa. On Sunday after two days of music, Tour de Toubab participants bike back to Asheville. A KOA campground nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains is located just one mile from the venue. Toubab Krewe will donate instruments and one dollar from every CARNAVALITO ticket purchased toward the Africa Krewe House, a music school project set to break ground in 2013. For this campaign, Toubab Krewe joined forces with Instruments for Africa, a not-for-profit organization that aims to empower underprivileged and at-risk youth in Mali through the preservation of traditional music and arts.
