Much like its larger sister festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Planet Bluegrass’s RockyGrass is a homecoming for Festivarians far and wide. Not only do families and friends return year after year to dip their toes in the Saint Vrain River and enjoy the finest bluegrass and bluegrass-adjacent music the world has to offer, but world-class musicians also count the days until their return to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch to catch up and collaborate with friends on the legendary Colorado front range stage.

Originally from Lancaster, PA, Maya de Vitry is a Nashville-based singer, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist whose music blurs the lines of folk, alt-country, indie rock, and Americana. An admirer of the dedicated songcraft of writers like John Prine and Gillian Welch—and of the stirring vocals of artists like Bonnie Raitt and Nina Simone—Maya de Vitry’s music invites listeners into a space of openness and connection.

Rock legend Billy Idol is set for the release of his first full-length album of new music in over a decade. Dream Into It is out April 25 on Dark Horse Records, featuring appearances by Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett and Alison Mosshart of The Kills. Acclaimed Americana singer-songwriter Autumn Nicholas is set to release her highly anticipated new single, “Listening (feat. SistaStrings),” on March 7, 2025, via Moraine Music Group/A+N Records. Produced by Grammy Award-winning engineer Charles Yingling, the track was co-written by Nicholas and Steven Dayvid McKellar (Civil Twilight). The release of “Listening (feat. SistaStrings)” marks the final song from Nicholas’ Songs With Friends collection.

Today, The GRAMMY-winning musician, songwriter, and producer Dan Wilson announced his new album good night, los angeles, an 18-song collection of piano recordings born out of a regular series of Sunday evening recordings he would post to social media. Recorded entirely on a 1918 Vose & Sons upright piano that was found on the streets of Hollywood, the record marks Wilson’s first instrumental release and offers a rare glimpse into the award-winning songwriter’s raw, unvarnished creative process.

Fifty years ago, a long-haired 19-year-old concert junkie was a student at the University of Hawaii’s Manoa campus in Honolulu. A devoted hard rock fan, he counted recent concerts by Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath among his favorites. Acoustic music wasn’t on his radar until he attended a show by Hawaiian slack guitar masters Cecilio and Kapono at the Waikiki Shell. Intrigued by their unique harmonies and guitar work, he decided to see another acoustic performance — this time by 12-string master Leo Kottke.
