On November 3rd 2009 Gentle Giant will be digitally releasing seven of their best-known albums and tracks in digital form for the very first time via their own Alucard label through EMI Music's Label Services unit.

Lafayette, IN band Root Hog’s debut self titled album, Root Hog hit the streets on September 15th, 2009 following a packed house performance at West Lafayette’s Riverside Music Center.  The debut album is available at all Root Hog shows, local record stores, and select online outlets.  The album contains 10 new original tracks, and showcases the band’s roots and blues style dubbed “Cosmic Americana”.

Beloved French band Nouvelle Vague return with their new hipshaking gem "3" -- Due in stores on October 20th on Peacefrog YES! That Nouvelle Vague! The inventive band that takes a song you adore and shows you how to fall in love with it allll over again!  With their sophisticated combination of bossa nova, jazz and sixties pop as they continue to remaster post punk and new wave nuggets! "3" differs from its predecessors in the arrangements, songs are inspired by American country music, roots and bluegrass.

Further has announced a series of upcoming shows, including a New Years run at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Further consists of:  Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Jeff Chimenti, Joe Russo, John Kadlecik and Jay Lane.

Toyota’s Free Yr Radio will be making its mark on CMJ this year as it partners with KEXP for a DFA Records showcase on Thursday, October 22nd at The Brooklyn Bowl. The showcase, featuring YACHT (live), Special Disco Version (James Murphy and Patrick Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem), Still Going, Holy Ghost!, and Sh*t Robot will benefit KEXP 91.5 FM on Radio New York.

Happy 62nd Birthday, Bobby Weir.   I saw Bobby 20 years ago tonight at the Brendan Byrne arena in East Rutherford, NJ, which ended up being an epic show.  -- Bobby is the ultimate road warrior and really cannot thank you enough... My fav Ratdog show was in July 2007 at Red Rocks.  Favorite Bobby screws up... too many to count. 

 

 

Singer-songwriter Bobby Long still doesn’t quite know what hit him.  One minute he’s making the rounds of open mic nights in London testing out his original material in front of generally ambivalent audiences, and the next he’s selling out club dates in far-off America.  Pretty heady stuff for a 24-year-old who only began writing and performing six years ago and whose most recent goal was to graduate from college.
