After another day of great music and great weather, the rain attacked STS9 and once again stopped the headliner's set a little early. Overall, it was a beautiful day of music and dancing on the river. This festival is quietly one of the best small festivals that I have attended in a long while. The food was affordable and delicious. There was variety and quality, even using Philadelphia's own Amoroso rolls for sandwiches. Yum! In addition, the vendors were diverse and special as well.
It was a beautiful day for most of festival until the headliner; the Disco Biscuits came on only to play two songs before the monsoon like conditions canceled the show. It was disappointing for the hometown band because they came out on fire. Earlier, people walked through the large vending area, sat in the fountains, and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the Delaware River as boats sailed by all day. Here's a run down on each band that played.

It's been said that fine, delicate wines need to mature slowly. For bands, sometimes that's true. In GB Leighton's case, it has taken almost two decades of songwriting and serious performing to develop into a force that is poised to take on the musical world. That maturing is grounded in Brian Leighton's songwriting, his powerful vocal delivery, and the backing of a phenomenally talented band.

Some men celebrate their 63rd birthday by starting a countdown to retirement, but for bluegrass legend - and road warrior - Doyle Lawson, April 20th was a milepost on the way to one of his busiest and most successful seasons yet.
Fresh off taping an episode of GAC's Edge Of Country with Kylie Harris (air dates June 23rd & June 25th) that focuses on his newest release, More Behind the Picture than the Wall (Rounder), Lawson paused to break some big news before heading back on the road.

While dancing amongst the sold out crowd at the Boulder Theater it became clear to me…..why haven't I seen this band before? This relatively unknown band performs like a veteran group, with a commanding visual presence and an amazing display of musicianship to back it up.
