If you reach Appalachian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Martha Spencer, it’ll be from the top of her mountain in Virginia, likely when she’s out walking in the woods. Spencer grew up nestled into hills as old as time. Raised in mountain music (she grew up in the famed Whitetop Mountain Band, which dates back to the 1940s), Spencer channels the old sounds, but she can just as easily create new sounds from her worldly travels.

Austin’s Kalu & The Electric Joint are back with a stellar new single “Garden of Eden,” which is out now. The Gabbard Brothers released “Pockets of Your Mind,” the second single from their upcoming debut self-titled album (out July 15th via Karma Chief / Colemine Records). From the ashes of the acclaimed Ohio rock band Buffalo Killers, singers/ songwriters/siblings Zachary and Andrew Gabbard have re-emerged as The Gabbard Brothers.

Jeff Cotton of Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band fame will be releasing his first ever solo album “The Fantasy of Reality” on Madfish on August 12, 2022.

As the first band ever to play the iconic Wetlands venue in NYC, the roots of New Potato Caboose stretch back to the early days of the jam scene, where they started with trading shows and went to sharing stages with the likes of Blues Traveler, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, and legendary ground-floor acts such as The Band and the Neville Brothers.

To celebrate last week’s release newly reimagined version of “Lightning Crashes” by +LIVE+ and EDM artist AVIRA via Armada Music, the band’s lead singer Ed Kowalczyk personally signed a beautiful Fender guitar and inscribed it with the lyrics from the song. It was auctioned this past weekend with the $13,000 in proceeds going to UNITED24 (https://u24.gov.ua) to benefit the victims of war in Ukraine.
