Music Worcester celebrates Summer@MW the weekend of July 21 -22 with two concerts that highlight the incredible range of jazz.  On Friday July 21st Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur “Genius” grant recipient Cécile McLorin Salvant plays an intimate concert at JMAC’s BrickBox, one of Worcester’s newest performance spaces, and the legendary John Pizzarelli takes the stage at Mechanics Hall on Saturday July 22. In the late 19th century, a budding young musician by the name of Huddie William Ledbetter left his home in Harrison County, Texas after his father sought to discourage the boy’s artistic ambitions by referring to Huddie’s guitar as a “starvation box,” cursed to bring only poverty and famine. That young man would go on to have an unimaginably profound impact on music, becoming internationally recognized as folk blues pioneer Lead Belly.

Katie Jacoby, the violinist and singer-songwriter known for being the touring violinist with The Who, has shared her cover of T. Rex’s "Cosmic Dancer." The track features an all-star cast of musicians including Scott Metzger of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, LaMP and WOLF!, Dave Dreiwitz of JRAD and Ween, and Josh Dion of Paris Monster, as well as a string quartet with Katie leading on violin. It was recorded at Restoration Sound in Brooklyn, NY by Lorenzo Wolff.

Upper Entertainment, LLC, has confirmed the long-awaited reunion concert of The Del Fuegos to take place July 15th at the East Bridgewater Commercial Club in East Bridgewater, MA. Formed in Boston in 1980 in the Boston area, The Del Fuegos toured nationally with such well-known hits as "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You."  The band last performed locally at The Paradise Rock Club in June  2011 and concluded a national tour with a hometown show in Concord, New Hampshire in March 2012.
