Blues singer-songwriter and keyboardist Kevin “Sonny” Gullage has released “Worried About the Young,” the final single from his debut full-length album, ‘Go Be Free.’ The socially conscious, modern blues tune tackles the economic hardships facing Sonny’s generation, delivering a powerful message of concern and urgency.

My first visit to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (a.k.a. "Jazzfest") was sort of a happy accident. In 1988, I was a young 20-something Grateful Dead tourhead, and I heard rumors that Little Feat was going to play their first show since the death of Lowell George a decade earlier. The allure was heightened by the fact that the reformed band would play on a riverboat floating on the Mississippi in New Orleans.

The Blues Foundation announced the winners of the 45th Annual Blues Music Awards on May 9 in Memphis.

Doors open at 7:00 pm with the show starting at 8:00 pm. This event promises to be a landmark occasion, celebrating the extraordinary talent of a musician who has rapidly ascended to become the defining blues voice of his generation.
