Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) is a fixture in every Austinite’s schedule. Whether it be to leave town and avoid the influx of people and traffic, or to attend the festival either weekend, you can tell when the weekends are coming. Having gone to college in Austin, and attended the festival several times throughout college and after, I’ve found it to be a popular activity with friends, year after year.
It was the second to last weekend in September which meant it was also time for the 2nd annual Bourbon and Beyond Festival to come to Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Unfortunately, it also accounts for unpredictable weather, as last year’s festival had relentless sun and heat. This year was the opposite, pouring rains made the grounds spongy and turned to mud very quickly. But while that was happening, it didn’t stop 25,000 people to enjoy the music that was in store for the day.
Tav Falco & the Panther Burns is a legendary band who is relatively unknown outside of Memphis. They played the first set on Saturday afternoon on the Bud Light Stage at the Beale Street Music Festival as part of their "Conamination" tour - what a treat it was, for both long-time fans who were happy to see their heroes again, and for the curious who had no knowledge about the band.
The second day of Coachella 2018 began much more pleasant and organized than the first. An armada of buses awaited festival goers at each of the myriad bus stops in contrast to a shortage of transportation the first day. A small of army of security personnel sorted through the personal belongings of the masses efficiently, getting people through the gates as quickly as possible.

After a much needed “golden slumber”, I started Saturday off in the best way possible… with a hot shower. The Ride Festival recently announced its second installment – happening July 13th and 14th at Colorado’s breathtaking Telluride Town Park. The 2013 Ride Festival lineup includes David Byrne & St. Vincent, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cake, Drive-By Truckers, Steve Earle, Buddy Miller and Son Volt, with others still to be announced.
